We’re thrilled to reconnect with you!
A few years ago, you participated in the CoVenture study, contributing to vital research on youth development. Now, we're inviting you to continue this journey. By participating in this follow-up, you'll help us understand how early experiences influence mental health and cognitive development in adulthood. By taking part again, you're helping us uncover important answers that could improve support for future generations.
You’re eligible to participate if you were part of the original CoVenture study between 2013 and 2017, are currently between 23 and 27 years old, and live in Canada. If that sounds like you, we’d love to have you back.
Everything takes place online and can be completed from the comfort of your home and at your own convenience. Participation involves logging into our secure platform, PsyTools, to complete a set of questionnaires and simple cognitive tasks. You will need a stable internet connection on a device with a microphone. In total, the study takes about two to three hours, but you’re free to do it at your own pace, whenever it works best for you.
To thank you for your time and contribution, you’ll receive up to a $90 cheque as compensation. It’s a small way for us to recognize the valuable role you play in helping move this research forward.
There may not be direct benefits for you personally, aside from a possible compensation and the opportunity to reflect on yourself and your experiences. However, your involvement helps researchers better understand how young people develop and how we can improve prevention and care related to mental health and substance use. Additionally, you'll have the option to gain insights into your cognitive functioning.
There are no known significant risks associated with this study. However, some of the questions might touch on sensitive topics and could bring up uncomfortable feelings. This is completely normal and you are never obligated to continue if it doesn’t feel right. If you experience any distress, free and confidential resources are available to support you, including:
- Tel-Aide (bilingual service): 514-935-1101
- Tel-Écoute: 514-493-4484
Remember, your participation is voluntary, and you can pause or withdraw at any time without any consequences. Your well-being comes first.
Protecting your personal information is a top priority. All responses are kept strictly confidential and are stored securely. Before any data is analyzed, it is anonymized so that you cannot be identified. In the spirit of scientific transparency, some of the anonymized data may be shared in public research databases, but rest assured, nothing will ever link back to you personally. You can read more about how we protect your data in our Privacy Policy.
Taking part in this research is completely voluntary. You can choose to withdraw at any time, and you may request that your data be deleted if it has not yet been analyzed.
This study has received approval from the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Ethics Committee.
Help us reconnect with others from the original cohort by joining our “Refer-a-Friend” program. Spread the word to friends who also participated in CoVenture, and you’ll both contribute to deeper, more meaningful findings. As a thank-you, you’ll also be entered into a monthly raffle to win exciting prizes!
Each assessment completed brings us closer to understanding the long-term effects of early interventions on mental health and life outcomes. By participating, you're not just a subject in a study; you're a crucial contributor to research that aims to foster healthier futures for all.
