About CoVenture10

CoVenture10 extends the pioneering work of the CoVenture study and PreVenture program, developed by Dr. Patricia Conrod. CoVenture was a longitudinal study of 3800 Montreal students that examined adolescent substance use, mental health and cognitive development conducted in Montreal from 2012-2017. PreVenture is a personality-targeted intervention aimed at reducing adolescent substance misuse and promoting mental health by equipping young people with cognitive-behavioral strategies to build resilience and achieve personal goals.

The Next Phase of CoVenture10

The new phase of this research project focuses on revisiting the original participants, now young adults, to evaluate the enduring impacts of adolescent experiences and early intervention programs on their substance use, mental health, and cognitive development.
This follow-up study will:

Substance use impacts

Investigate the associations of adolescent substance use with neurodevelopmental, cognitive and mental health outcomes in adulthood.

Functional outcomes

Investigate adolescent experiences that predict substance use, mental health, cognitive and psychosocial outcomes in adulthood.

Behavioural persistence

Examine how mental health during adolescence is related to substance use patterns, and other mental health outcomes in adulthood.

Intervention Impact

Assess how early personality-targeted interventions have influenced participants’ mental health and substance use trajectories over time.
