What is CoVenture?
CoVenture is a school-based research study conducted in Montreal high schools.
The study recruited students in Secondary 1 starting in 2012 or 2013, and followed them annually until they graduated.
The study involved 31 schools across the Greater Montreal area in a cluster-randomized controlled trial. Students completed a baseline assessment and were assigned to either an intervention group or a control group. Those in the intervention group participated in two 90 minute PreVenture® workshops, while all participants completed annual follow-up assessments over five years.
Throughout the study, students completed questionnaires and cognitive assessments in their school's computer lab.
CoVenture evaluated the effectiveness of PreVenture®, a which uses personalized interventions to promote mental health and reduce the risk of substance use among teens. The program aims to equip young people with self-efficacy and cognitive behavioural skills to help them cope with life's challenges.
Mapping our reach
The Next Phase: CoVenture10
The new phase of this research project invites the original participants to update us on their experiences as young adults.
This follow-up study aims to answer key questions about how early life experiences shape adulthood:
.png)
Intervention impact
How do early personality-targeted interventions influence mental health and substance use over time?

Substance use associations
How is adolescent substance use related to brain development, cognitive functioning, and mental health in adulthood?

Functional outcomes
Which cognitive outcomes are linked to risk or protective factors that originate in adolescence and extend into adulthood?

Behavioral trajectories
To what extent do behavioural and substance use patterns in adolescence predict those in adulthood?
